Begin your Lenten journey with us Wednesday night in the Chapel. It is a time for us to recognize our humanity and our need for God. In addition to prayers, scripture, and music, the service will include Imposition of Ashes and Communion.
Lenten Preaching Series: At The Table
The Communion Table has a prominent place in our Sanctuary. The Last Supper plays a significant role in Holy Week, as Jesus gathers friends around a table to serve them bread and wine, asking them to remember Him. The conversations around the table for the meal Jesus hosted are still conversations we have today, as we try to remember and emulate Jesus’ ministry in the world.
Our Lenten theme for this year is At the Table. We will celebrate Communion several times during Lent: Ash Wednesday, 2nd Sunday in Lent, Maundy Thursday, Easter Vigil, and Easter Sunday. At the Table, we will be fed and remember Jesus. Throughout Lent, we will not only be At the Table, physically, we will also explore the spiritual and emotional ways we come to the Table, or how we leave the Table. What are we hungry for when we arrive? How are we fed At the Table?

“Dinner Church” gathers people around a shared meal, blending together fellowship, food, conversation, and simple worship. It is rooted in the communal eating practices of Jesus and the early church. These gatherings invite strangers to become friends, stories to be shared, and faith to be deepened. A simple meal of soup, bread, and fruit will be served. There is no fee for the meal, but reservations are required so we can adequately prepare.
A Trace of Your Presence: An Intergenerational Art Project
At the Last Supper, Jesus shared a Passover table with his closest friends, breaking bread to commemorate God’s past connections and prepare them for the new covenant.
To illustrate this sacred gathering and celebrate communing with God and one another, everyone is invited to a special table in the Narthex after Worship. Come, lay your hands on the table and leave a trace of your presence.
This artistic representation of ‘community gathered around a table’ is open to ALL ages! Representation of community includes small hands, large hands, young hands, and old hands. Hands of all kinds. Come to the table as often as you’d like throughout the season. Your presence is the art.
“Come, for the TABLE is set, ALL are INVITED, ALL are WELCOME.”
