Is Prayer Navel Gazing?

When I was growing up I took piano lessons. Now, don’t get excited and think that I should accompany your next recital. For the number of years I took piano lessons, I really should have more to show for it. But, I wasn’t very diligent in my practicing and once I left home for college, I never continued to play. Dead Man Walking Author to Speak at First Cong

In 1982, Sister Helen Prejean became the spiritual advisor to a convicted murderer, Patrick Sonnier, who was on Death Row in Louisiana’s notorious Angola Prison. Jerry Hancock credits Sr. Helen as a guiding light for the Restorative Justice program of the Prison Ministry Project. Over the years, Sr. Helen has been a leading advocate for the abolishment of the death penalty and for the value of Restorative Justice.

Come Once to Adult Worship

A year ago, as part of our commitment to welcome everyone to worship with us no matter where they are on life's journey, First Congregational started a worship service for adults. We recognize that for a variety of reasons some people would prefer to attend (or should only attend) a worship service when children are not present. This service is being offered to meet those needs. This is a full service of Christian worship, but children are not present in the service or in the church building.
