youth program First Congregational United Church of Christ holds a strong commitment to young people and strives to offer a wide array of opportunities for youth to explore their personal faith and connection to the Church and wider community. Fellowship events help youth to build bonds of community as peers. Educational programs give young people opportunities to dive into the scriptures, discuss the teachings of Christ, and relate these to their daily lives. A wide range of service projects including AIDS Walk, CROP Walk, SOUPer Bowl Sunday, Food Pantry Volunteers, Mission Trips, as well as many others, give youth venues to express their faith in active, hands-on ways. | confirmation Classes are offered for young people, 8th grade and older, interested in confirming their faith and becoming active members of First Congregational UCC. Programs and schedules are tailored to the needs of those taking the class. music celebration ringers Youth in this bell choir (5th through 12 th grade) learn basic ringing techniques for both chimes and handbells. The Chancel Choir rehearses weekly and contributes to worship on Sunday mornings from September through May. See the Music Ministries page for practice schedule. Opportunities are offered to sing in a larger Cantata Choir during Advent and Lent, and to join a choir of Summer Singers during the summer months. |
