Open and Affirming Sunday  

        This Sunday is Open and Affirming Sunday in our church, in which we celebrate our church's decision in 1992 to become Open and Affirming of all people, regardless of sexual orientation. Two couples who are members of our church will speak. Cathy Canavan & Carol Randall, and Kim Fisher & Linda Ketcham will tell their stories about living as a couple in the society and in the church. In addition to the Biblical readings in the service, there will be a reading of the proposed Constitutional Amendment. Members of the Rainbow Group will play a large part in leading worship.
        After the service, there will be copies of the statement “Marriage for All” at two different tables in the sanctuary. Everyone present in worship will be invited to come to one of the tables and sign the statement. Those signed statements will then be sent to the state legislature with a note stating that our congregation is Open and Affirming, and wishing that the state legislature were, also.
