UCCMA Board visits Madison!

Last Tuesday and Wednesday (June 19-20) First Congregational hosted the National Board of the United Church of Christ Musicians Association (UCCMA). They had their own business to discuss, but much of the time was spent talking about UCCMA'S 2019 Conference, which will be held here in Madison at First Cong! Don DeBruin serves on the National Board and was instrumental in securing the conference for First Cong. The two days were spent touring housing facilities, a concert venue, and learning more about how we can provide the best possible conference.
The conference will start on Tuesday evening, June 25, and will finish with the closing worship service on Friday, June 28.  The conference will offer a music reading session on Tuesday night, and will be followed by morning vespers every morning, worship services on Wednesday/Friday night, a concert on Thursday night, and many workshops. The worship services will be open to the public and I hope you will plan to attend.
There is a local committee established, but we are looking for more people to serve on the planning team, and just help in general, as we ready ourselves for this great opportunity to show a First Cong and Madison extravagant welcome to the musicians. If you would like to help in some way, please email me.
Current members of the local committee are: Ann Beaty, Don DeBruin, Rev. Doug Fauth, Gloria Green, Rev. Phil Haslanger, Eldonna Hazen, Jason Ilstrup, and Don Taft.
