Legacy: Not Just for Old People!

Event Date:
Sunday, April 29, 2018 - 8:45am - Sunday, May 13, 2018 - 9:45am
Whether you are a young parent, a young professional, a grandparent, or a great-grandparent, your legacy has already begun. Why not take an active role in planning your legacy? The sessions are designed to help us think about, and then encourage us, to act on our own legacy. The sessions are a unique opportunity to see our lives in a new way. When we talk about legacy, we often think we will get to that when we are 'older.' Our legacy starts much earlier in our lives than we suspect. Our thoughtfulness now will provide an amazing gift to our families.
Session 1 (April 29): "What is a legacy? Why do I need or want a legacy?" We will answer some common questions about legacy. I already have a will, doesn't that cover it? My kids are going to get all of my money, they can decide what my legacy is, right? I don't have any money to give anyone, why should I worry about a legacy? Legacies are just about money, right? We will begin the process of an ethical will.
Session 2 (May 13): "What will my Memorial Service look like?" Once we have talked about all of the ways our legacy can be passed on, we will take the opportunity to look at how we would like our life to be celebrated. What are your favorite hymns, scripture, readings? How will your legacy be reflected in your own memorial service?
Each session will start promptly at 8:45am in the Chapel. Whether you are a young parent, a young professional, a grandparent, or a great-grandparent, your legacy has already begun. Why not take an active role in planning your legacy? This class will be led by Eldonna Hazen, using information compiled from several sources. We hope you will take these meetings on your calendar and attend.
