Prayer & Action

Last Sunday during worship, we read, and Ann preached, on Psalm 46. The verses that are often highlighted in the psalm are Be still and know that I am God. Those are good words for us to hear and reflect on, but the truth is - we live in a world that is more raging than still. And our world today is no different from the time the psalm was written. Another verse of the psalm says,
We will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, thou its waters roar and foam and mountains quake with their surging.
Ann encouraged US to have the courage to be still long enough to hear God. As we see the rage of wind and water our brothers and sisters are dealing with in Texas and Florida, what is God calling us to do from our stillness?

Sunday morning worship is a time when we can be still. Worship is a time when we can focus on our prayers of joy and concern, and find comfort. But the sacred time we spend together can also be a time of action. I hope you will join us this Sunday as we find space to be still for prayer, but also find space to act on our prayers, as we respond to our neighbors in need. God is still speaking and encouraging us to prayer and action.
