Lunch & Conversation with Carl Rasmussen

Event Date:
Friday, October 13, 2017 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm

The Adult Education Committee is excited to offer Lunch with Carl, a class based on his book Monstrous Fictions. The reformer John Calvin has influenced America in a formative way. In the 1990s, Evangelicals and Catholics Together (ECT) formed a politically influential ecumenical coalition to oppose abortion and to transform the national culture. Its ecumenism of the trenches has influenced American politics, including the Tea Party. In this book, Carl Rasmussen (member of First Cong), argues that Calvin's Reformation theology of the cross provides no support for the ECT initiative. However, Carl also appeals for a spiritual ecumenism to heal the divisions of culture war. Join us on Friday, October 13, for Lunch with Carl, from 12:00-1:00pm in the Fellowship Room. Learn more about Calvin, and how Carl came to his conclusions. Light lunch provided. Please let the church office know if you plan to attend. (233-9751)
