Ways to Help On and Before Thanksgiving Day

If you'd like to assist with our annual Thanksgiving Day community meal, there are volunteer jobs remaining. On Tuesday, November 21, we have spots open for kitchen and other cleaning. For Thanksgiving Day, we still need helpers to greet guests, serve the dinner, answer phones, and deliver meals to the home bound. We are also looking for individuals to donate pumpkins pies and to purchase and cook turkeys at home. Food donations would need to be brought to church early Wednesday evening, November 22. There are turkey roasting bags with instructions next to the sign-up sheets in the back of the sanctuary. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

We are also collecting new children's books for our Thanksgiving mission project that connects incarcerated parents with their children through reading. We are requesting donations of 300-600 children and youth books to be distributed to Reading Connections, a program sponsored by Madison-area Urban Ministry (MUM). Parents at the Taycheedah and Waupun Correctional Institutions will then be video recorded reading the books to their children. The book, recorded reading, and a letter from the parent will be mailed to their child. Please bring donated books to church by Wednesday, November 22.

For information, call the church office at 233-9751 or email the Outreach board at outreach@firstcongmadison.org to sign up or with questions.
