Women's Book Study

Event Date:
Saturday, June 3, 2017 - 8:00am - Saturday, July 22, 2017 - 9:30am
It is time for the summer session of Women's Book Study! The book selected is 'Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City' by Matthew Desmond. Amazon.com writes,"In Evicted, Harvard sociologist and MacArthur "Genius" Matthew Desmond follows eight families in Milwaukee as they struggle to keep a roof over their heads. Hailed as "wrenching and revelatory" (The Nation), "vivid and unsettling" (New York Review of Books), Evicted transforms our understanding of poverty and economic exploitation while providing fresh ideas for solving one of 21st-century America's most devastating problems. Its unforgettable scenes of hope and loss remind us of the centrality of home, without which nothing else is possible."
The Book Study will meet on Saturdays, June 3, 24 and July 8, 22 at 8:00am in the Fellowship Room. A limited number of books have been ordered. The cost is $12. Please email kkanitz@firstcongmadison.org to reserve your copy. Chapter breakdowns will be forthcoming, but get your book ready and the dates on the calendar!
