Children & Youth Sunday

The Children and Youth of First Cong will be leading worship this Sunday. Sunday School Students will stay through the whole service and will lead a Call to Worship in song, Youth will read scripture and lead prayers, and the Youth Musical Survivor Babylon will be presented for the Sermon. The script of this year's Youth Musical was written by First Cong Youth Emma Bittner!
The cast of Survivor Babylon has been busy preparing to share the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and their escape from the fiery furnace. Forced into exile in Babylon, the Hebrews struggle to hold on to their faith and traditions in a strange world. When the Babylonian King, Nebuchadnezzar, played by veteran First Cong actor Paul Lorentz, places a large image of himself in the town square and demands that all his subjects bow down to it, three young Hebrews: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse on the grounds that they only bow down to God. Their strong faith gives them the strength to risk the punishment, being thrown into the fiery furnace. As you can imagine, this act of defiance really burns the King up! The story is told from the perspective of Smokey, the Furnace Keeper. It's a story of faith, a story of courage, a story of strength.
Change Offering!
A special Change Offering will be taken during the last hymn this Sunday.  Everyone is invited to bring in their spare change to make a joyful noise and make a change by dropping it into the collection cans. The Youth decided that this special collection will be shared with Church World Service to support their efforts to aid refugees from Syria. So, this Sunday, bring your change and make a change!
