55 Alive! Recap

Each month on the first Wednesday from 11:30am-1:00pm, adults of First Cong and other friends, gather in the Dining Room for lunch and an engaging program. Many of our programs focus around learning more about our community. We've heard about city initiatives from our Mayor, learned about opportunities for outreach through Madison Area Urban Ministries, and discovered how the changing face of media is impacting the news we hear. Students from East High recounted their experience of spending time in Africa. The Chancellor gave us a "state of the University" address. One program focused on our Madison symphony and we listened to beautiful music. And the Raging Granny's sang for us their songs of protest! This is just a small sampling.
55 Alive! was started as a way to gather our middle-aged and older adults together for fellowship and learning. We enjoy a delicious catered meal followed by the program and then discussion. Some of the people who attend are retired. Some are working and come during their lunch hour. We encourage anyone interested in the topic to come. You don't have to be "older" to participate in this engaging ministry. ALL ARE WELCOME!
December 7 will be our annual Christmas program. Our own Mari McCarty & Don DeBruin will present a program of seasonal poems and carols that will put you in the holiday spirit! The cost of the lunch to the church is $10.00 per person and we ask that you donate as you are able to offset this expense. Join us as we celebrate this season of hope and love. Please make a reservation by Monday, December 5. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the Sanctuary.
