Rev. Ann Beaty Called by First Congregational

Sunday, January 10, First Congregational voted to call Rev. Ann Beaty as full time Associate Minister. This church has not had a settled staff since June 2012. Two full time ministers have not been in place for much longer. It is important to acknowledge the many wonderful ministries done by lay and clergy during the last several years. But it is also a time to look ahead with great anticipation in what is possible by the lay and clergy of First Congregational. We have been living in, and divided in, contemplation and action. We have hoped for, planned, and carried out contemplation and action. However, being honest with ourselves, we can now move forward confident with a settled staff, committed to the many ways real contemplation will give us more strength for social action, and open new possibilities for how we may do ministry inside and outside the walls of the church.
We give thanks for the part time ministry of Rev. Ann Beaty over the last two years, and we look forward to the ways her ministry will blossom and grow in this full time position. Many thanks to the Associate Search Committee: Pam Asquith, Chair; Kweku Brewoo, Jenny Camponeschi, Matt Flowers, Bob Gentile, and Faye Whitaker, for the many hours of reading and studying profiles, doing phone and in person interviews, hours of meetings, and inspiring spirit-led contemplation.
