Walk a Prayer Labyrinth

Event Date:
Monday, August 22, 2016 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Join your First Cong friends at Madison Christian Community to walk their outdoor prayer labyrinth. (7118 Old Sauk Rd.) Ann will give us a brief overview at 6:00, but you can join us anytime between 6-7pm to begin the labyrinth. Following the walk, those who want to have conversation about it will go to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
The prayer labyrinth is an archetypal pattern, a "divine imprint," found in religious traditions around the world. Perhaps the best known is the labyrinth which was inlaid in the floor of Chartres Cathedral, near Paris, France, around 1200 AD. In recent years, walking a prayer labyrinth has been rediscovered as a meditative, "active" way of praying. The path winds throughout and becomes a mirror for where we are in our own lives, a metaphor for our journey with God. As a spiritual tool, the prayer labyrinth can be used as a path of prayer, a place of release and renewal, a time for quieting the mind, an opportunity to pray and reflect on life questions with God in silence.
