Nothing We Can Do??

Do you get tired of watching or listening to the news or reading the newspaper? Does it depress you to hear and see what is happening in the world, our community, or our neighborhood? Does it seem that there is nothing to be done to make the world a better place?
It certainly is disheartening to hear what happens in our world today, but as a wise woman from this congregation once told me, "It's not enough to just pray about problems. It takes both prayer and action." Our community has several opportunities to engage in educational classes over the next two months. I hope that we might take the time to learn more about institutional racism and/or the complications of Palestine/Israel through a seminar, "Deconstructing Racism",  and a book study, "Faith in the Face of Empire" offered at First Cong. "Deconstructing Racism" will be held Saturday, April 30, from 9am to 1:00pm in the Fellowship Room. You may register on the home page, or through the church office.
"Faith in the Face of Empire" will be held April 24, May 1, and May 15, at 8:45am in the Fellowship Room. Books are available in the church office for $17.
