Neighbors in Need in Wisconsin

Event Date:
Sunday, October 18, 2015 - 10:00am - 11:00am
Our Neighbors in Need offering, which we will receive on October 18th, supports the UCC's ministries of justice and compassion throughout the US. Two-thirds of the offering is used to fund a wide array of local and national justice initiatives, advocacy efforts and direct service projects. Neighbors in Need also supports our American Indian neighbors in the UCC. One-third of the offering goes to the UCC's Council of American Indian Ministries (CAIM). Historically, forebears of the UCC established churches and worked with different tribes in North and South Dakota, Wisconsin and northern Nebraska. Today there are 20 UCC congregations on reservations and one urban, multi-tribal UCC congregation in Minneapolis. Recently a CAIM representative helped the Ho-Chunk United Church of Christ in Black River Falls make the decision to take over ownership of their building from the Wisconsin Conference. You can find more information on this transfer in the recent Wisconsin Conference newsletter and on the table at the back of the Sanctuary.
More information about CAIM's work will be highlighted in bulletin inserts - look for them. Your Outreach Board encourages you to give generously to this special offering on Sunday, October 18th.
