Celebrating 175 Years....

Our festive, intergenerational Advent Workshop tradition of creating gifts from the heart for friends, family, teachers and pets dates back to the mid-1950s. Doris Beatty, creative church member and wife of our associate minister, started what was then known as the Christmas Workshop.  After a hiatus for several years in the 1970s, Church School Director Judy Whipple and the Board of Christian Education resurrected the workshop in 1978.  There have been 15 to 25 gift-making stations offered to participants each year. Gloria Green’s famous vegetable soup was featured at the pre-workshop luncheon for many years.  Other workshop organizers since 1978 have been Betty Frater, Carolyn McKinney, Sarah Nordberg, Marsha Hall, Jody Varney, and Melissa Baumann.
