Annual Meeting at First Congregational UCC

Sunday, May 4th was the Annual Meeting of the congregation. At this meeting the regular elections shall take place, the annual reports shall be received and long range plans should be reviewed. Other business, as needed can be addressed at this meeting. The following notes are not intended to be minutes of the meeting, but a summary of what happened at the meeting. The minutes are always available in the church office.

The meeting began with prayer followed by the approval of the past meeting minutes. Tom Rickner, Moderator, gave a powerpoint presentation updating the membership on the Reach & Renew Campaign. It included the work that has been successfully completed, and pointed the congregation toward the options still available. The work completed included the new heating system/air conditioning, youth room updates, Prison Ministry Project outreach, greening allocations, Membership Renewal support and exterior painting of the building. The subcommittee from the Executive Council are offering three opportunities for the congregation to ask questions and give input regarding future use of the existing funds. The three dates are May 18th in the Sanctuary, following worship; June 15th in the Chapel at 8:45am and a July date yet to be determined. The May 18th meeting will deal with projects related to building improvements and the June 15th meeting will address mission & membership projects.

The Property Board asked that their motion to start a building reserve fund be tabled until the next Congregational Budget meeting. The Executive Council had reviewed the materials from the Property Board outlining the needs of our multiple buildings over the next twenty years. The Executive Council hopes to address the needs, and encouraged the Property Board to be diligent in their requests.

The congregation accepted the list of nominations for the leadership of the church, and voted to approve the slate. The leadership was installed into their new duties. We give thanks for the service of the many people who serve the church in a variety of leadership roles. We look forward to another year with great leadership. Tom Rickner was thanked for his time as Moderator and presented with an original piece of art, created by Linda Hancock.  We welcome Paul Karch as our new Moderator, and look forward to him sharing his gifts with us.

The meeting closed in prayer.
