2. On Thursday, November 14, national public education champion Diane Ravitch will speak at the Orpheum Theater at 7:30 pm. Sponsored by Edgewood College and The Progressive Magazine and co-sponsored by many local grassroots organizations, including GRUMPS, the event will highlight Ravitch’s role in transforming the discussion of the charter school movement in the US. She is an accomplished speaker who makes it very clear how she moved from a charter school advocate in the early 1990s to a strong opponent in the last twenty years. Her book Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America's Public Schools focuses on best strategies for defending public education. Learn more about Ravitch and read a great interview on her new book at: Ravitch interview Please join us. Both events are free and open to all.
