Rev. Jerry Hancock Receives Award

I was fortunate to attend a wonderful gathering last Tuesday. Rev. Jerry Hancock was given the “Public Citizen of the Year” award by the Wisconsin chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Jerry was recognized for the good work the Prison Ministry Program is doing and will continue to do. Jerry's acceptance speech was brief, eloquent and gracious. He told of a prison social worker named Robin who was the first to say "Yes" to allowing the restorative justice program into a prison. Without that first "Yes", there would be no prison program and no prison ministry reaching out from First Congregational into the lives of those in prison in Wisconsin. Our thanks to Jerry and to all those who keep saying "Yes!" to this vital ministry.
