Would You Be A "First Friend"?

Research shows that new church members are more likely to stay active and engaged if they consider 8 or more other members to be their friends. Research also shows that forming friendships after the age of 30 is substantially harder than at earlier ages. In other words, if we want to keep our newer members, we need to be intentional about connecting with them, and helping them connect with others.

To be a "First Friend" is to participate in a new ministry of hospitality that aims to do just that. To be an FF is to be matched up with a new member, and to commit to connecting with them on a regular basis. It's introducing them to other members, making a call or email if you haven't seen them for a few Sundays. It's keeping them in prayer and inviting them to church events that you are planning to attend. It's not hard, it's rewarding, and it will make a difference! Would you like to be a FF? Please let Eldonna know!
