Women's Book Study

Event Date:
Saturday, February 23, 2013 - 8:00am - Saturday, March 23, 2013 - 9:30am

Mark your calendars now to attend a morning of coffee (or juice), treats, and great conversation after reading The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver. The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it -- from garden seeds to Scripture -- is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenseful epic of one family's tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the course of three decades in postcolonial Africa.

The class will meet on three Saturday mornings February 23 and March 9 and 23, from 8:00-9:30 am in the Student Lounge and will be facilitated by Eldonna Hazen. Books are available in the office for $11. Please let Eldonna know if you plan to attend.
