Annual Meeting May 5

Please make plans to participate in our church’s annual meeting, to be held Sunday May 5, 2013, at 11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. At its April 15, 2013 meeting, the Executive Council set the following agenda for this meeting:

1. acceptance of annual report for 2012-2013

2. acceptance of congregational meeting minutes of May 2012, January 2013, and February 2013

3. decision on partial allocation and use of Reach and Renew funds

4. acceptance of nominating committee report

5. service of installation

Copies of the 2012-13 annual report are available in the Sanctuary. If you would like a copy emailed to you, please contact the church office. Please refer to the annual report to review the congregational meeting minutes and nominating committee report. The motion from the Executive Council regarding Reach and Renew funds allocation is found below.

“Whereas the members of First Congregational United Church of Christ Madison and the First Congregational Foundation have pledged $2,173,067 towards the Reach & Renew Campaign, and whereas we have spent $978,551 to date on the heating and air-conditioning projects previously approved by the congregation, and whereas we expect to have approximately $1,000,000 to spend on other proposals over the course of this 5 year campaign, and whereas we wish to maintain the momentum of this campaign by moving forward with proposals beyond the heating and cooling, and whereas the leadership of this congregation has in good faith attempted to assess the congregational interest in and the value of proposals set forth by the Reach & Renew working groups, the Executive Council hereby moves that:

The congregation approve the allocation of $173,000 of Reach & Renew funds towards the following proposals:

$25,000 for Membership Renewal over 5 years

$50,000 for Prison Ministry at $10,000 per year for 5 years

$50,000 for Green Building Priority Package 1

$3,000 for Refurbishing the Youth Room

$35,000 for organ and piano repairs

$10,000 for the hiring of an architect and space consultant to work with the church to develop more detailed proposals related to reconfiguration and refurbishment of interior and exterior space.”

They will be available following worship April 28, to answer any questions about the Council’s proposal. Tom will be available in the Sanctuary immediately following worship, and Sue will be in the Chapel, following the Long-Term Member Celebration.
