Event Date:
Sunday, July 3, 2011 - 11:22am - Saturday, July 9, 2011 - 11:22am

Gracious and merciful God, “our help in ages past, and our hope for years to come,” I pray to you today for our beloved country. I pray that this nation will more closely follow the purposes you have for us, and for all people. May we, as a people, put aside those things which separate and divide us from each other, and from other nations and peoples of this world.
May we be quicker to look for peaceful solutions to problems in this world, and much more restrained in taking up arms to fight and kill and impose our will on others.
May our highest national priorities include caring for the lost, the lowly and the least – those who will be “ground into the dust” without our active concern.
May we have a rich appreciation for all people and all cultures who have made a contribution to the national fabric of our piece of the American quilt. May the words on our iconic statue, “Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free,” define a part of our vision as a nation. May our national narrative always be open to including those who are different, and whose differences may enrich our own traditions.
May we be strong for truth, justice and peace as a nation; and may that be the light which is not hidden under a bushel but set on a hill, providing your light to all people.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, citizens first of your Realm, and also members of this nation which is our earthly home.      Amen.
